Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
