Former Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
