Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.
During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
