Reigning Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.

Aryna Sabalenka in action
The Belarusian player concluded the year with an outstanding twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Consistency

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a historic £11m in earnings.

She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
